Here's a blast from Jacqueline's past.

“Jackie?”
Jacqueline set down her fork and the kale impaled on it. She didn’t recognize the voice. Maybe they were calling for someone else.
“Queer Jackie Madison?”
Snatching up her napkin, Jacq held it to her mouth as she fought down bile. No one had called her that in years.
“It is you.”
She didn’t look up, afraid that when she did, she’d find herself back behind the school with fists landing on her between mocking words.
“Wow, look at you. You look great! I guess I shouldn’t call you that, should I? What is your name now?”
Taking a deep breath and settling her stomach, Jacqueline risked raising her head. The man standing beside her table was from her high school, but it wasn’t one of her tormentors. Liam McDonald had never said two words to her, good or bad; he stood and watched.
“Jacqueline. I’m Jacqueline now.”
“No kidding. May I join you?”
She longed to say no, but he was already pulling out the chair. His gaze wasn’t mocking. He didn’t look down at her, and his smile didn’t slip a whisker. Her cheeks tightened and it took a moment to realize she was smiling back at him.
“I’m only around for the weekend, business. You work here?” He looked around the cafeteria.
“Yeah, in pharmacy.”
“I never knew you were smart.” He looked to his fingers which drew circles on the table. “I never knew you at all. I’m sorry about that, and for calling you… fuck, I’m a retard. I’m going to shut up and let you talk, okay? Probably safer for both of us.” His eyes found hers and her mouth went dry.

Is he really turning over a new leaf? Is this reminder of past trauma going to set Jacq back again? The set comes out in April!
