Investor is the fifth installment of the Blue Moon House series. However, as each subsequent volume is set further in the past, they may be read in any order.
Today my tease has a bit of intrigue. I hope it doesn't disappoint:
“How could you do that?” Kate asked in a shrill voice when Terrance entered his room at the boarding house. Nicholas was right behind him and quickly closed the door.
“Do what?” Terrance asked, confused.
“Leave me with him! Do you know what he wanted?”
For the first time, Terrance worried that Devlin might be less than a gentleman. Perhaps he was in search of a night's entertainment. Kate had had plenty of men like that.
“No. Was it improper?”
She bristled and paced the room. “No. Unless you consider a kiss on the cheek improper. Particularly as part of a marriage proposal.”
Terrance grinned. “Not at all. That's wonderful news.”
She glared at him.
“It's not wonderful news?” he asked Nicholas.
“It sounds wonderful to me,” he said, shrugging.
“Do you not like him?” Terrance asked. “I thought you were happy visiting with him tonight.”
“It's not that,” she said, her eyes still blazing in anger. “He won't have me when he finds out. What will he want with a...a whore?”
Terrance grinned. “He doesn't know you were ever a whore. Who will tell him? We are the only people who know.”
