Tantalizing Tuesday - First Day

Today was the first day of the rest of her life.
She had been born for this, studied beauty and recreated it, on canvas, in her clothing, in music. She was trained in court etiquette and could speak eloquently. She was an accomplished gardener and her flowers had been coming to this castle for many years before she reached it.
Never had she tried to be something else. She’d looked with interest on the boys and men training with weapons and horses, hunting, but rather than the dance of swords, she had learned ballet and other strenuous, graceful dances that kept her body as beautiful without draping and paint as it was with.
Today was the first day she wished she’d been taught some form of self-defense. Horses and men screamed outside her carriage and a man reached in and pulled her out.
“Here’s the real prize, lads.”
She clung to the waist of her captor, afraid of falling. They entered the forest. She had never seen wild beauty before. There were no straight lines or perfect circles.
“You will teach my children,” the man said. “Make them beautiful.”
Today was the first day of the rest of her life.
